Greg Michelson

I spent the first 12 years of life in southern Alberta, then moved to Calgary. I entered the work force in oil and gas construction and continued with it for some years.

I have always enjoyed horses since my days of riding in southern Alberta. In the early 80's, I again became involved with horses. I started purchasing and training some horses of my own and one thing led to another. I met my wife Karen and we got married and moved to our current location - near Carbon, Alberta.

I train a great variety of horses. Many have gone on to become stars in their own element – in such disciplines as reining, barrel racing, roping, ranch and beginner non-pro horses. I start many young horses every year and put a lasting foundation on them that will stay with them for the duration of their careers.

I love reining and have won NRHA and Reining Canada Open and Limited Open Championships. I have also had success in working cowhorse, winning the Limited Open at Prince George, BC.

Over the last few years, I have worked a great deal on starting horses destined for the barrel racing industry. I've enjoyed starting young horses for many of the top barrel racers and trainers; many of these horses have excelled in 1D, futurity/derby and pro rodeo competition.

Karen Michelson

I grew up in the three western provinces, spending about equal time in each. I have always had a passion for horses – riding at my uncle's farm until my parents caved and bought my sister and I a horse of our own. I started out riding english but switched to western in my teens.

My other love, besides my children Clayton and Delaney, is drawing and painting, though I have considerably less time to indulge that interest.

Clayton Michelson

Hi I am Clayton Michelson. I attend Carbon School. I like riding my horse Sailor who is by Hickory Hello. I also enjoy reining and working cow horse. I love basketball. What I love about Michelson Stables is the fact that it's a family operation.

Delaney Michelson

Hi, my name is Delaney Michelson. I enjoy the fact that my family and I live on a farm with our horses, cats and our dog Sammy. I also enjoy riding, drawing, playing outside and reading. My favourite animal is a horse.
